
Bill Palmer is a professional engineer, writer, editor, and program developer with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, specializing in concrete, masonry, building design, and public works. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado (1980) and a master’s from the University of Iowa (1982). He is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan and Colorado.
Bill worked for the American Concrete Institute for 10 years as engineering editor on Concrete International and as director of ACI’s educational programs. While at ACI, he was also executive vice president of the American Society of Concrete Contractors. Following that he spent 4 years as executive director of The Masonry Society, a technical organization for masonry designers and contractors, developing educational programs and resources.
Most-recently Bill was editor-in-chief of Masonry Construction magazine for 2 years, of Public Works for 2 years, and of Concrete Construction magazine for 7 years. He was founding editor of Residential Concrete magazine and Concrete & Masonry Construction Products, all published by Hanley Wood. While at Hanley Wood he helped to nearly double the circulation and revenue of the magazines he was responsible for, conducted major redesigns of each magazine, and developed relationships with readers and advertisers throughout the world.
